The government’s pandemic eradication efforts shifted education from offline to online, reducing student motivation, especially for deaf students in English subjects. To address this, the author developed SAY-HI, a game-based learning media for deaf special school students in Surabaya. This study aims to (1) describe SAY-HI using design thinking, (2) explain its role in delivering game-based English material, and (3) analyze its effectiveness. Using the design thinking method—empathy, define, ideate, prototype, testing—SAY-HI was evaluated through usability
testing. Results showed a SUS score of 80.3 (“A”, excellent), proving SAY-HI effective in supporting English learning.
