The escalating frequency of residential and educational fire and gas-related incidents highlights the critical need for a reliable, early-warning safety system. This project, KITCHEN GUARD: KITCHEN ALARM SYSTEM, introduces a low-cost, dual-unit alarm system designed to mitigate these risks by detecting multiple environmental threats in real time. The system comprises a sender unit, which utilizes a Micro:bit connected to flame, gas, and temperature sensors, and a receiver unit, which provides alerts to users.

A key novelty of this system is its robust wireless communication. The two Micro:bit units leverage the built-in radio feature to create a seamless, non-physical link, allowing the alarm to function effectively across different rooms or areas without complex wiring. Furthermore, the system's design prioritizes a user-centric experience. The receiver unit forgoes a more complex LCD display in favor of the Micro:bit’s integrated LED matrix, presenting clear visual alerts through icons and scrolling text. Audible alarms are also triggered via the built-in speaker. For quick and decisive action, an external physical switch provides a dedicated master reset function, offering an immediate way to silence all alarms and return the system to a safe state.

This innovation offers significant usefulness beyond its core safety function. As a practical demonstration of electronics, coding, and wireless technology, it serves as an excellent educational tool. The project's simplicity and low component cost make it accessible for deployment in various settings, including homes, schools, and small businesses, thus providing a foundational framework for enhanced environmental safety.
