As students, we began to notice a recurring problem in our school environment every day, a significant amount of food waste from the canteen was simply thrown away. Watching this happen made us question why something that could be reused to benefit the environment was instead becoming part of the pollution problem. From this realization, we developed the idea of a green building model that looks like rafflesia flower for the first time a prototype that does more than just reduce waste, but also demonstrates how schools can lead by example in sustainability.
Our model combines environmentally friendly building principles. This model can be used to visualize the future industrial sector which is sustainable. By closing the loop between waste and reuse, the building is not just a physical space but also a teaching tool that encourages the entire school community students, teachers, and staff to take part in sustainable practices.
For us, this project is more than a technical solution; it represents a change in mindset. We believe that schools should be more than just places to learn academically they should also inspire positive habits and values that students carry into the future. Through our green building model, we want to show that even small steps, like composting food waste, can grow into meaningful change when adopted collectively. It is our hope that this idea can serve as a foundation for future innovations, proving that sustainability begins with awareness, action, and collaboration.
