Vehicular exhaust emissions are major sources of air pollution, releasing black soot particulates that pose environmental and health risks. To address this, this study developed POLLUCOAL, a sustainable muffler retrofit designed to capture and collect soot particulates from exhaust emissions, aligning with SDG 11 and SDG 13. The device was assembled and tested to evaluate soot capture efficiency, noise reduction, and thermal stability. Results showed that POLLUCOAL effectively trapped soot, both with and without a cotton filter, slightly reduced noise, and maintained stable exhaust temperature. These results demonstrate POLLUCOAL*’s potential as a *low-cost, eco-friendly innovation for mitigating vehicular air pollution.
