Each year, multiple cases of infants and young children suffering severe injury or death due to being left in overheated vehicles happen worldwide. This tragic occurrence, known as vehicular heatstroke, can happen in just minutes, as temperatures inside a parked car can rise rapidly. Caregivers unintentionally leave a child in a car, leading to fatal consequences. There is an urgent need for a reliable, real-time alert system that can monitor and detect dangerous temperature levels and promptly notify caregivers to prevent such occurrences.

Therefore, the objective of our project is to design and develop a wearable temperature monitoring device specifically for infants. When the device detects temperatures exceeding a safe threshold, it will send immediate alerts to a connected mobile application, ensuring caregivers are promptly informed thus taking necessary actions to prevent heat-related injuries. The project uses Arduino application, ESP32, lithium battery, step-down converter and LM35 module. After testing the prototype, we simplified the device to become a more infant-friendly wearable mobile device. The charger port can be accessed for charging the lithium battery. The device continuously tracks ambient temperature. In the mobile application, the temperature can be set to a level where a notification alert will be generated whenever the level is exceeded.

Benefits include a green design with its rechargeable battery and durability. It has commercial potential with large target market of consumers. It is cost-effective with the crude cost of around RM50.

In conclusion, Thermoguardian is a feasible and affordable solution to prevent infant heatstroke.
